Eggplant Moussaka (or Musaka) is an authentic Greek dish made with layers of eggplants and/or potatoes, tomatoey meat sauce, and cheesy béchamel sauce.

This authentic Greek dish is widely popular mainly in the Mediterranean countries and almost everyone has his own recipe for it.

Add the milk gradually and whisk continuously to avoid the lumps. Add the cheese, salt and the nutmeg. Let it cool down for 5 minutes before adding the egg yolk.

Layer half of the the fried eggplants on the bottom of an oven proof dish. Season lightly and spread on the half of the mince filling.

Cover the eggplants with béchamel sauce and sprinkle on the cheese and breadcrumbs to finish the musaka dish.
