Potato Recipes for Every Night of the Week

Published: Sep 8, 2026 by Ayla Clulee

This collection of Potato Recipes for Every Night of the Week is perfect for anyone who buys a big bag of potatoes and ends up making the same thing with it every time. There are pan-fried and roasted sides, a mash, a warm salad, a pastry and a few air fryer options in here, so the bag gets used up in different ways. The one at number 10 is a full dinner rather than a side, so hold out for that one. Save this list for the next time you are staring at the potato bag.

Fondant Potatoes - Buttery Melting Potatoes

    Ayla Clulee

Thick rounds of potato are browned in a pan, then finished in the oven with butter, garlic, thyme and stock. They take about 50 minutes and most of that is hands-off oven time. This is the side to make when there is a roast on the table.

The potatoes are parboiled first, then fried in one pan with garlic and rosemary until the edges are crisp. The whole thing takes 25 minutes and the parboiling can be done hours ahead. If you want something more special for a Sunday, the next slide is the one to look at.

Grated potato and onion are mixed with egg and flour, shaped into flat cakes and cooked in the air fryer instead of a pan of oil. They are ready in 30 minutes. Serve them with soured cream and chives, or with apple sauce if you like the sweet version.

Thinly sliced potatoes and onions are layered in a dish and baked in stock rather than cream. It is lighter than dauphinoise and takes about an hour and a half, most of it in the oven. Number 7 is the creamy option if that is what you are after.

    Creamy Mashed Potatoes

    Ayla Clulee

    Air Fryer Home Fries

    Ayla Clulee

Diced potatoes are tossed with olive oil, paprika, salt and pepper and cooked in the air fryer for 25 minutes. They are meant for a fried breakfast, but they work just as well next to a burger. One slide left, and it is the biggest plate on the list.

Kumpir - Turkish Loaded Baked Potatoes

    Kumpir served warm with toppings.
    Ayla Clulee

A large baked potato is split open and the inside is mashed with butter and cheese, then piled with toppings like Russian salad, sweetcorn, olives, pickles and pesto. It is Turkey's version of the jacket potato and it is a whole dinner on its own. Set the toppings out on the table and let everyone build their own.
